This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore a seemingly forgotten story that has pushed the boundaries of endurance and has marked several generations of Romanian people. A trip down-on-memory lane, appealing to all of your senses, that will unveil the city and its people with both good and bad sides, while allowing you to judge the progress and the downfall of a society for yourselves. To top everything up, we have included a drive through the Bronx of Bucharest where you will witness the communist bedroom dormitories that defined (and still do) the last 50 years of Romanian social history. From rock bottom we will head out to the Bel Air of Bucharest, the nest of the communist leaders, where you might see how the communist leaders really understood the slogan ”we are all equal”.

Are you looking for something crazier? On top of the half day tour, we will take you completely out of your comfort zone, by adding an unusual site: the biggest active prison of Bucharest, where we managed to arrange and unlock doors in both directions in & out! So don’t worry! You will get out of there! We’ll visit an old military fort, transformed into a memorial against the totalitarian regime, located within the prison. The site has many dark stories to tell. This part of the communist tour requires special permission as we will be transiting an active prison.
